Sugoi Mart is a vibrant, Japan-based e-commerce brand that brings the magic of Japan straight to customers' front doors around the world. From exclusive snacks and collectibles to unique Japanese lifestyle products (and even some spicy R18 items 👀), their carefully curated offerings give the West a real taste of Japanese culture.
I worked closely and in person with Sugoi Mart (and its now-defunct sister company, Japan Crate) for two to three years while living in Tokyo, right up until the company was acquired by a competitor. I led a team of brilliant designers and illustrators, directing projects, products, releases, photo shoots and everything in between, all while having an absolute ball with some of the most talented people I've had the pleasure of working with.
During my time there, I led a full visual overhaul, overseeing the design of loads of physical products and heading up all creative content. We collaborated with brands like Sega and Atlus, working with IPs such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona 5 and Hatsune Miku to create promotional pieces timed with launches and events. Working closely with their teams, we managed every part of the design and creative strategy, making sure each product and campaign captured the essence of Japanese culture in a way that was exciting and visually captivating.
